About
I’m Ashley, creator of The Hippie Martha, a place for cultivation of creativity, education and natural healing. Ever since I can remember I have been caring for others so naturally becoming a nurse was a part of my life’s journey. I hadn’t planned on quitting my hospital job and becoming an educator but when I found Sarah Bly’s program with The Well’s School of Body Literacy, I ended up completing a life changing 2 year program to become a Fertility Awareness, Sexual and Reproductive Health Educator. I love being able to apply 15+ Years of Nursing experience to my new role as a Fertility Awareness Educator to support you through all of life’s reproductive needs. I also would like you to know that if I don’t know the answer, I will help you find it or refer you to someone who can.

How did I get here?
Long story short I wanted to know more about my body. I think this is where most of us begin, with ourselves. Being a nurse in women’s health I thought I knew all that there was to know but was finding out there was a great big world of natural health and healing out there that I had never been exposed to. After many health issues I wasn’t getting any answers from Western Medicine and all of my labs “looked normal” but I didn’t feel normal. I started diving into using the menstrual cycle as the 5th vital sign and wanted to be able to understand what was going on in my body by looking at data that I could collect myself. Thus, I came across The Well’s School of Body Literacy. I randomly applied not truly knowing what I was getting myself into and was greatly humbled after my first class. I realized that I could learn so much from others as well as from my own chart and started finally healing. My journey is still continuing and now I am starting to use my cycle to navigate not only through my lifelong struggle with PCOS but now I’m entering into the world of perimenopause. It is truly a gift not only to understand my own cycles but to be able navigate these uncharted waters with confidence and grace.
Fun Little Facts about me:
- The Hippie Martha name was born while day drinking with my neighbor as we were thinking of a name for my IG page. Given the fact that I am very crafty, am a jack of many trades and love natural living it was only natural to pay homage to Martha Stewart while embodying my hippieness.
- I have a gift for remembering random facts.
- I love foraging for wild herbs and plants and wildcraft my own tinctures, teas and salves.
- Beekeeping has become a new hobby for my husband and I.
- I will always try to “make it” before I “buy it.”
- I homeschool my two kids who both have dyslexia.
- I just got my first tattoo.
